Steve Lehto (USN)

steve.lehto Steve is a U.S. Navy veteran serving from 1970-1974. His sea duty was aboard the George C. Marshall SSBN 654.

Born in Washington State and raised in Oregon, Steve graduated from Western Oregon University with a Bachelor’s degree in social science and then added a year at the University of Southern California to receive a Food Industry Management 5th year Certificate.

With 48 career years in the food industry, Steve’s last job before working at the Food Bank was as the EVP and Chief Operating Officer with Reasor’s in Northeastern Oklahoma. While at Reasor’s, Steve also served on the board of the Food Bank for over 5 years. Steve joined the staff of the Food Bank in September 2015, as the Rural Hunger and Veterans Outreach Manager. He is currently involved with research about rural hunger issues and providing support to the Coffee Bunker and Veterans Treatment Court.

Steve has been married to his wife Carol for 34 years. They have three grown children; Joshua, Robin and Kelsey, who is a sergeant in the Army stationed at Fort Sill. Steve is a bicyclist and enjoys fly fishing.

Steve’s father was a WWII veteran. With that family history, Steve’s service to veterans became personal. The more he researched the needs of returning veterans, the more he knew he needed to “answer the call.”
